Amazing First Lines From Books I've Read

It is commonly known that to engage a reader (in any capacity), you must have a great opening line. The first sentence of your book is arguably the most important sentence in your book because it must attract the reader's attention, and give a preview of what's to come. I've read many books in my life, and although most of them have turned into books I've fallen in love with, not all of them had me feeling this way in the first sentence.

So, here are a few AMAZING opening line(s) of books I've read over the years.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

"I wasn't with Finny on that August night, but my imagination has burned the scene in my mind so that it feels like a memory."

if he had been with me by Laura Nowlin

"If you are interested in stories with happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book. In this book, not only is there no happy ending, there is no happy beginning and very few happy things in the middle."

The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket

For as long as she could remember, there had been monsters.

A Soul to Keep by Opal Reyne

Loyalty. One word. Three syllables. Seven letters. Zero meaning.

Scarred by Emily McIntire

Hope you enjoyed these quotes! Happy Saturday loves!
