Amazing Last Lines From Books

It is commonly known that to engage a reader (in any capacity), you must have a great opening line, but what about the closing line?

In a previous blog, I highlighted some opening lines/sentences from books I’ve read. Arguably, the most important sentence is the first. Its job is to hook the reader long enough to keep them reading. The last line has similar importance. It is what your reader will leave with; last impressions are also important when writing! Is it a cliffhanger? Is it bold? Does it tear your heart to pieces, or make you sigh from relief?

Here are a few AMAZING closing lines from books I've read over the years.

With solemn steps, they marched back to Tronjheim, Saphira and Eragon in the middle of the procession.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Then he looked at the board again, and he laughed out loud. "That's exactly where I am," he said.

Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Berry & Ridley Pearson

Or so Bill Denbrough sometimes thinks on those early mornings after dreaming, when he almost remembers his childhood, and the friends with whom he shared it.

It by Stephen King

As he drags the body of the female to the barn to slaughter it, he says to Cecilia, his voice radiant, so pure it wounds: "She had the human look of a domesticated animal."

Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica

And her love slips quietly around me, holding me, anchoring me, reminding me that the loudest words are the ones we live.

Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan

I hope you enjoyed these quotes from some of my favorite books! Happy Saturday loves!
