2025 has already started great in terms of creativity and workflow! Since I've been focusing on writing lately, I've revisited books that have helped me in the past.
These two books have been a great source of creativity and inspiration. Hopefully, they can help you, too <3
I bought this book while studying for my Creative Writing degree because it was considered a required textbook. This was my first book about writing, and it became a staple for my process! Burroway's writing is easy to understand, and they provide examples from works of fiction to reference throughout the book. There are also tips and exercises for you to follow along with.
Every writer has their style and way of doing things, so there will be things you individually disagree with. It's completely normal! I found some ideas I disagreed with, but I still learned a lot from this book.
I may be biased about Stephen King as a lover of horror and supernatural beings, but I stand by this book as a writer. This book will always be something I go back to when I need advice, or when I feel down about my writing progress.
In this book, King not only gives incredible advice about writing. He also dives into his own experiences with writing, with failure, and with the knowledge he gained after. This book is not only informative. It's also an entertaining dive into the mind of a great author. I highly recommend this book to any author!
