First Line:
“Ty, dammit! Get your butt away from there, will ya!”
Summary:
Pallorino is on track to finding out more about her past, but at the expense of her career. Now on probation for her job, Pallorino starts cutting corners to find the men that took her identity when she was only 4 years old.
With Pallorino off the case, Maddocks must now continue on without her. His feelings for her blossom as does the case, and when the two connect he is forced to make a decision that may cost him.
My Review: NO SPOILERS
I really wonder how the third book will wrap up Pallorino and Maddocks’ story. What a read! This book has a lot of dark themes, and it was heartbreaking to see the case as it unfolded, and all the trauma that came with it.
The first book touched the surface of the investigation while this one went into the gritty details. Although I do love when books go in depth about what’s going on and explaining the details, I did find myself skipping a numerous amount of large paragraphs and bulks of text. It felt like the author was over explaining, and I found myself disinterested in the technical sides of the investigation because of that. Even through skipping those portions, I didn’t miss out on the story.
Also I’m rooting for Pallorino and Maddocks! I want them to succeed and am curious to see how the next book will tie things together.

My Favorite Quote(s):
Even so, cold seemed to linger inside her bones, as though a dank chill had crawled out of the shadows of her past at the hospital yesterday and burrowed into her very core, and it was not going to go away until she found answers.
Rain spat against the panes.
-…urgency rustling beneath her skin like a trapped live thing.
