Favorite Books of 2022

In 2022, I made it a goal to read 60 books, which you can see HERE. Now that we are in the new year, I can share all of my favorite books from last year!

  • All of Us Villians / All of Our Demise by Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

Seven families must each choose a champion to fight to the death in a battle for a high magic, the most powerful and dangerous resource in the world.

If the Hunger Games had magic in it, this is exactly what it would look like. This duology was fantastically written. With deception and death being the main themes, these books were definitely nail-biters. The first book leaves on a cliffhanger that is impossible to ignore, and the second book leaves you with a bittersweet, yet satisfying ending. The relationships and epic battle scenes are chef's kisses!

  • The Scars We Choose by A. Lee Hughes (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

Scarlett reminisces with old friends about her early years when she first fell in love with a boy (Julian) at her family's beach house. She struggles to maintain her relationship, fighting against racism, her parent's disapproval, and her own overflowing feelings.

I had no idea that I was in for such a treat when I started this book. At first, I was a little skeptical, as the beginning started a little slow for me, but wow! One of my favorite books to date.

The relationship between Scarlett and her mother had me in pieces, and the way the story progressed tugged on my heartstrings. I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next one!

  • My Sister's Grave by Robert Dugoni (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

Sarah's death has remained a mystery for 20 years, but when her body is found near her hometown, her sister must investigate. Tracy Crosswhite has never believed Edmund House was guilty of the murder of her sister. Long-kept secrets start to emerge as Tracy hunts down the 'real killer,' gaining the help of a long-time friend (and present lawyer) to solve the case.

I am always a sucker for a good mystery, and this book kept me engaged. There's something about a badass woman taking matters into her own hands that I just eat up every time!

This book is definitely a slow burn, but man that twist was definitely worth it. Of all the crime novels I've read, this one was the most surprising in the end.

  • They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

When Death-Cast calls, Mateo Torres and Rufus Emeterio know what comes next. Today is the day they die. Today is their End Day. Not knowing how long they have left, two strangers with opposite personalities decide to make the most of their last day instead of being alone.

The title says it all and says absolutely nothing at the same time. I should have known what I was getting into, but the progression of the story and character development almost makes you forget how insane the plot really is. I rooted for Mateo and Rufus from page one to none. They complimented each other so well, and I held onto them so tightly the entire read.

This is definitely a must-read that may or may not rip you into pieces.

  • Six of Crows by Keith Bardugo (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

A convict, sharpshooter, spy, heartrender, thief, and runaway. Katz Brekker, a criminal mastermind, is willing to save the world for the right price. However, this heist is next to impossible. He'll need a crew, and he'll need it fast.

I finished this book after so much procrastinating, and honestly, I can't wait to read Crooked Kingdom! This was so good!

The characters, the backstories, the relationships, the visuals, everything was so well done. The beginning was very confusing, but I promise you won't be disappointed if you read past that!

I had no idea what was going on until the going got good (and the going got very good).
