It's already been a year since I posted my 2023 resolutions, can you believe how quickly time runs past our eyes? Hopefully, you were all able to reach your goals this year. I'm going to go over what my 2023 goals were, and what my goals for 2024 are!
2023
Usually, I try not to overwhelm myself with goals for the new year. I think you can agree, that sometimes putting too much demand on yourself can hinder more than help. Thus, I came up with the following goals for 2023:
Read 65 books
Exercise 3 days a week
Cut down on fast food
Journal consistently
So now, let's talk about what I accomplished during the year. I'm writing this at the beginning of December, so as of today I've read 67 books (and am currently reading 3). My first goal was probably the easiest for me, as an avid reader, but I'm still happy I got to accomplish it!
My second goal was to exercise 3 days a week. This one I'm pretty proud of as well. Although I didn't accomplish the goal, as of right now I've managed to exercise for 87 days out of the 156. Even getting through half of my goal was enough for me.
My third goal, to cut down on fast food, was something I honestly forgot about. I didn't manage to monitor it the way I wanted to, but I will say that in general I've been making an effort to eat healthier, and isn't that pretty much the same thing?
As for my last goal, I think I failed in that department. I journaled up until February when some personal issues led me into a downward spiral. I gave up on journaling because of that, and only very recently started entertaining the idea again. Hopefully, I can stop associating journaling with negative experiences, so I can make new ones.
2024
I want to keep my goals for 2024 simple, just like I tried to do last year. I'm sure this year will yield more success.
Read 70 books.
I feel like I have to one-up myself every year now 😅 so I won't go too crazy. I think five books are enough, right? Right?!
Touch grass
I say this kind of jokingly, but I don't see the sun as often as I need to. As a person who thrives off alone time, I don't like going out, which leads me to my next goal.
Attend more social events
Social anxiety has always been something I struggle with, and every year I tell myself that I'll do better. Hopefully, putting it out there and knowing there is a digital footprint of me saying this will help motivate me and provide accountability.
Practice better self-care
Although I'd like to think self-care is one of my strong suits, I know deep down that I'm not relaxed when I try to take time for myself. I spend far too much time thinking about how unproductive I'm being, and I think it's more hurtful than helpful. I want to try and strengthen my me-time by lessening the stress that comes with relaxation.
If you've made it this far into my post, thank you so much for tuning in, and I wish you a successful new year. Happy Saturday!
