First Line:

A laugh erupted in the crowded pub. The obnoxious prick yanked a shot off the server's tray and slammed back the liquid.

Summary:

Cole just needs to get the job done: kill his target and get the hell out of dodge, but his world turns upside down when off-duty detective, Sophia, corners him in an alley. Unwilling to kill her, Cole sends her off with a warning instead of killing her, but Sophia has been hunting suspected killer Cole for years, and she won't back down.

That is until her daughter is kidnapped.

Forced to seek out help from Cole, the two get along to work together and save Sophia's daughter, but there's something more to their relationship than just "working together." A detective and an assassin could never be together though . . . Right?

My Review: NO SPOILERS

Action, tension, and a touch of danger. I enjoyed this book, much more than I'd originally thought. Both Cole and Sophia are certified badasses, and it goes to show in the way that they are ready to get things done no matter what it takes. Something that I liked about this book was the added tension of Sophia and Cole's "forbidden romance," which made all of the tension in that department so much more intense!

The pacing was amazing, and everything felt very natural as I read, which made me like it even more. No complaints except I wish there was more!

My Favorite Quote(s):

"Icy calm settles over his body. A familiar feeling. It always came before he completed a hit. His heart rate slowed. The dampness on his palms evaporated. Even the tension in his jaw loosened."

"Sophia's entire life was in his arms, and if he didn't get her to safety, he'd never be able to live with himself."
