My Policeman by Bethan Roberts

First Line:

"I considered starting with these words; I no longer want to kill you—because I really don't—but then decided you would think this far too melodramatic."

Summary:

Marion has been interested in her best friend's brother since the moment she lays eyes on him. He is a policeman, her policeman, and it seems solidified when he asks her to marry him. What she doesn't know, is that he is someone else's policeman too. Patrick also falls smitten with Tom's good looks and charm upon first sight and seeks to know more about his policeman. Marion and Patrick must share him, but at what cost?

My Review: NO SPOILERS

I've been wanting to read this book for a long time, and I am happy to have finally obtained a copy. Bethan Roberts, you are an absolute wordsmith.

This book made me love Tom the way that Marion and Patrick did. Seeing everything through their eyes was breathtaking, and while reading, you almost don't know who to root for, or if you should even be rooting. The descriptions, the way that the emotions are depicted, and the language that Roberts used to weave this story were something completely out of this world.

I love when authors just tear you into shreds at the end of their book because now, I need a week to recover! I need to read something happy again 😭

My Favorite Quote(s):

"I've been thinking about it because I had the dream again last night, as vivid as it was forty years ago. Tom and I were beneath a table; this time it was my desk in the classroom in St. Luke's, but it was the same in all other respects: Tom's weight on me, holding me down; the huge ham of his thigh on mine; his shoulder bowed and stretched across me like the bottom of a boat; and I'm part of him at last. There's no room for air between us."
