Sneak Peak: Never-Ending Nightmares 2

Never-Ending Nightmares 2 is still in its first draft, but I have made immense progress since my last update (which you can read HERE) in December.

If you are an author, you know exactly how tedious the writing is. Reading slumps and writing blocks are common for us, and this year has proved to be challenging. Let's recap what I did in December, and talk about what I've gotten done since then!

In my last update, I discussed how I reached the twenty-second chapter of my first draft. I never expected to get that far into the story so soon, with my goal to finish the first draft by the end of 2024. Now, I’m working on chapter twenty-seven.

Do you know the feeling when you’re reading an amazing book and don’t want it to end? This is how I’m feeling about the sequel to my book. This book started my writing career, and putting it out as a 19-year-old felt fulfilling and terrifying. It was one of the first things I’d ever written, and I held (and still hold) all the characters close to my heart.

I took a long break from this project because I didn’t want the story to end. These characters have grown with me, and I hope I am doing my 19-year-old self-justice by finishing what I started. So, in honor of that, here is a very short sneak peek into the sequel (with spoilers ahead).

We stayed there for a long time before Riley suggested a walk.

I agreed, and he stole me away to go outside the building. I didn’t realize how tense my body had been until we were outside in the sunlight, and my shoulders dropped. My skin buzzed from the chilly breeze, but my limbs didn’t feel as stiff, and the burn in my legs was pleasant.

It felt good to be helpful.

“Hey, Harper.” Riley walked with his hands in the pocket of his sweatshirt, the evening breeze blowing back his hair. His nose was slightly pink from the chill. His eyes were sad and kind, as he looked down at me.

“Yeah?”

“I missed you.” He said it casually, looking away from me.

I felt my heart squeeze and release. I could feel my lips turn up. “I missed you too.”

Thank you all for being here on this journey, and have a beautiful Saturday <3
