The Girl in the Moss (Book 3 of 3) by Loreth Anne White

First Line:

Twilight lingers at the fifty-first parallel, painting the sky deep indigo as tiny stars begin to prick and shiver like gold dust in the heavens.

Summary:

Now an ex-cop and starting private investigator, Angie Pallorino is trying to make a fresh start when everything seems to go wrong. On a trip with her lover James Maddocks, a body is discovered, their relationship is going down the drain, and her new job is at stake.

When an old woman seeks Pallorino’s help with a case long cold, Pallorino is desperate to make this her new start.

But someone doesn’t want her to find out what happened.

My Review: NO SPOILERS

What better way to end a series than with a sweet ending?

The plot twist in this case really got me! I liked this book more than the second, and although I had an idea of what would happen at the end, there were a few moments that had me flipping back a page in disbelief (in the best way possible of course).

I enjoyed this series as a whole, and the focus mainly being on Pallorino this time around. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was how back and forth Pallorino’s thoughts were on her relationship with Maddocks, but I was also pleasantly surprised by the slow buildup and small moments she had of reassurance with herself.

A lovely ending!

My Favorite Quote(s):

Yet she can feel it⸺a presence. Tangible. Watching. Malevolent. Something is uniting her⸺weighing her as a prospective prey.

Sweet is revenge, especially to women. It’s an emotion that outlasts all others.
