Organization goes a long way when it comes to productivity. Sometimes it can be difficult to divide and conquer, especially if you're used to multitasking (which I am a culprit of), or if you're used to waiting until the last minute adrenaline carries you through your work.
When you organize, you can avoid that stress, and actually free up your time. Here are some tips, tricks, and tools to get organized, and get it done!
Focus on the important tasks first
Keep your workspace clean
Calendars and planners
To-do lists
Plan the night before
Take breaks
1. Important Tasks First
It is so easy to flip between different tasks as you're going along. It may seem like you're getting a lot done, but what really happens is that you'll finish a little bit of everything, simultaneously leaving all your tasks unfinished.
Focus on the important stuff first! The bigger and more important the task, the more time you will need to delegate.
2. Clean Work Space
Even if it doesn't seem like it, your space can affect your mindset. More often than not, a clean and tidy workspace will promote a fresh headspace. Consider putting things away when you don't need them. This can be any papers left laying around, pencils, books that have yet to be read, etc.
On top of having more space to do your work, you will also eliminate distractions. By keeping them out of sight, they will most likely remain out of mind.
Calendars/Planners
Planners are an amazing way to keep on track with your work! Digital or printed, planners can help you organize by month, week, and day. It is an easy way to write down what task needs to be done on what day, so you can look ahead and make sure you get it organized and done!
Calendars are a great way of doing this. Having a calendar on your wall (with a pen/marker close by) is a daily reminder. If you put this calendar somewhere you look often, your brain will subconsciously remember that you have work to do.
3. To-Do Lists
Isn't it satisfying to see a list of things being checked off one by one? To-do lists give us a sense of gratification because we can physically see our list of things to do going down.
To-do lists are a great way you can lay out everything that needs to be done and focus on individual tasks. This will help you go one by one instead of jumping around.
4. Planning Ahead
Plan the night before!
There are so many instances where I've found myself laying in bed thinking about all the things I have to do when I wake up. Avoid this stress by writing down what needs to be done! It doesn't have to be pretty. Just get your thoughts and general plan down so that you can make it into a to-do list the next day to work on.
It is going to relieve so much stress, and it will also allow you to rest easier.
5. Taking Breaks
Speaking of rest, it is important not to overwork yourself. However small, you need to take breaks in order to give your brain and body the rest it needs to complete your to-do list. Whether it's stretching, taking a walk, or simply closing your eyes for a bit, resting will help your productivity immensely.
Take care of your body the same way you try to take care of your work <3
With these tips, take the steps to get organized for the upcoming months ahead! Here's to healthy productivity!
