War (Book 2 of 4) by Laura Thalassa

First Line:

The day starts off like most others. With a nightmare.

Summary:

The four horsemen were meant to end the world. Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death, brothers from another plane of existence, are sent to Earth to destroy humans.

Miriam sees it firsthand as Jerusalem falls in front of her eyes. War rides his horse toward her, but instead of killing her, he claims her as his wife.

And he will not take no for an answer.

My Review: NO SPOILERS

It’s been a long time since I read Pestilence, but it felt like no time had passed.

This story sucked me in, so much so that I stopped reading it for a bit because I didn’t want to finish. I love this series because it is a guilty pleasure book that touches on real grief and trauma.

War was so snarky, and the banter he had with Miriam was so fun to read through. A bittersweet story that had a sweet ending, I'm excited to see how Famine and Death will handle humanity and all its 'temptation.'

Rating:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Favorite Quote(s):

I can vaguely remember my childhood. I had a happy one—or rather, I used to lack worries, and that’s almost the same thing.

He turns to face me. “I am yours and you are mine, Miriam—” I quake at those words. “—but I am not like you, and you should never forget that.”

It’s one thing to feel vulnerable, another thing to showcase it to the world.
