Ways to Overcome a Reading Slump

Avid readers, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Although reading can be an incredibly satisfying and informative hobby, sometimes it takes too much brain power. Reading slumps can happen to anyone, whether from lack of motivation, indecision, etc.

As a victim of the slump myself, I try to find creative ways to start reading every time I fall off. Here are some ways to overcome your reading slump!

Spin a Wheel!

This idea is something one of my favorite gaming YouTubers does to decide which game she'll play! You can simply google "custom spin the wheel" and add all of your TBR books. Then, all you have to do is spin the wheel and start reading. This eliminates the amount of time you would spend trying to pick what to read next.

Take a Trip to the Bookstore

Maybe it turns out that you don't have enough choices. A trip to Barnes & Noble or your local bookshop with a tasty tea or coffee is the perfect outing. And while you're there, you can get your next book to read.

Pick a Guilty Pleasure Book

Not every book you read has to be action-packed or revolutionary. Sometimes, it's nice to settle down and read something you'll enjoy. This is a great way to get out of a reading slump, so pick up your favorite genre and get into it!

Most Importantly, Don't Stress!

If none of these work, don't worry! Sometimes you just need to get into the right headspace. The important thing is not to force yourself.

Happy Saturday loves!
