THE YEARNING
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a fantasy book with story-building like this. I almost stopped reading at a point because I'm not used to books with deep fantastical worlds, but I’m so glad I continued.
I love the world and felt so heavily for these main characters! They both broke my heart with their backstories and refusals to accept the painful truths. Kaan absolutely shattered me with his love, his patience, and his ability to take the hard path. Raeve’s strength and determination made me instantly like her (along with her witty banter). I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Rating:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
My Favorite Quote(s):
Ignos was a glutton for Clode. The God of Fire feasted on her. Consumed her. Loved her so much he could not breathe without her.
My lungs pull full of his scent, so deep and drugging, like smelted stone topped with a ladle of cream.
My cheeks heat, and I almost snap at him again, but then his laughter weaves a thick ribbon beneath my ribs that flutters up my throat and bursts from my mouth so fast it also spurts from my nose with a spray of soup that coats the butcher block.
“Your hands know me,” she whispers. “Yes,” I murmur against her hair. “Know you, crave you, worship you.”
